The Art of Making Chocolate
The Art of Making Chocolate
Age: Middle school
Location: Studio Birdsong
Maximum number of participants: 8
Do you know the different health benefits of chocolate? We are going to learn about them in this fun and delicious chocolate making workshop!
We begin with a discussion on the benefits of cacao and other superfood ingredients. Next, we each make a batch of chocolate. Each participant then customizes her chocolate with the herbs and superfoods she prefers, based on her specific needs. Goji berries to promote strength and happiness, matcha for glowing skin, or perhaps lavender if she’s looking to relax. The bars will not only be healthy and tasty (organic, free from refined sugar, dairy and soy and non-GMO) but also a work of art with coconut sprinkles and bright berries sitting atop. While the chocolate is setting in the molds, we will design labels for our chocolate with creative names for our custom chocolates.
This workshop reminds us that we can fuel our bodies through nutrition and make beautiful food with the ingredients nature provides. All we have to do is educate ourselves on the benefits and then choose accordingly!
Recipes come from Chef Giovanna and her chocolate company, Live a Lot, check it out here.
